Description

Ducati has launched the Monster V2 Dark in global markets, priced at EUR 10,990 (or Rs. 11.69 lakh). The Monster was launched in August 2026, the next chapter in the Monster model's storied history. The Monster V2 Dark will serve as the entry-level model, losing out on a few key features while also offering a minimalist, yet sinister blacked-out design. The Monster was Ducati's first street naked motorcycle, launched in 1992. Since then, the Monster has gone through multiple iterations while retaining its core ethos of simplicity and accessibility. The Monster V2 Dark takes a step further, offering the Monster V2 in a proverbially stripped-down variant, finished in Ducati Dark livery. The aesthetic differences go beyond skin-deep, too. Underneath the jet-black bodywork, Ducati has left the frame, exhaust endcaps, and intake snorkel unpainted, contrasting against the black paintwork. The rims are now all-black, losing out on the red highlights found on the standard model. The seat has been changed slightly too, with a uniform choice of material throughout the seat; the Monster Dark also loses out on the rear seat cowl that buyers would normally get as standard equipment. Interestingly, the Monster Dark also loses out on the LED sequential turn indicators from the standard bike, while the Ducati Quick Shift (DQS) bi-directional quickshifter has become an optional accessory. Ducati sees the Monster Dark as a more affordable option in the lineup, with a more accessible entry cost; the omissions make sense. Mechanically, the formula remains unchanged. The Monster Dark carries over the 890cc 'V2' L-twin engine, which produces 111bhp at 9,000rpm and 91.1Nm of torque in the Monster V2. A monocoque chassis does duty underneath the muscular bodywork, with the bike riding on a Showa 43mm upside-down fork, working in tandem with a Showa preload-adjustable rear monoshock. Ducati Monster also benefits from the standard plethora of safety acronyms, with ride-by-wire, six-axis IMU, dual-channel lean-sensitive cornering ABS, Ducati Traction Control (DTC), and Ducati Wheelie Control (DWC). The Monster's functions are controlled through a petal joystick and the 5-inch colour TFT instrument cluster, which allows riders to choose between four riding modes.
