In the video, you'll see a side-by-side comparison of 8fps vs 30fps recording, followed by full-screen views of each frame rate. Mike Haldas waves his hand, does jumping jacks, and jogs across the screen to show how each frame rate handles motion. The resolution is identical in both clips — it's 4K either way. The difference shows up when objects are moving fast. As you'll see, 8 frames per second is still outstanding video quality, but the 30fps recording is noticeably smoother on motion-heavy shots.
Frame rate is one important factor — not the only one — when deciding between a Viewtron Hybrid BNC DVR and a Viewtron IP camera NVR. Hybrid DVRs let you reuse your existing coaxial cable, which is the easier upgrade path if you already have a coax-based security camera system. Viewtron IP camera NVRs require running CAT5e or CAT6 network cable to each camera, but support the full 30fps recording at 4K resolution and include built-in PoE ports.
