BMW has launched its all-new, fifth-generation X5, the brand’s first model to offer five different powertrains. These include: a six-cylinder gas model with a mild hybrid system, badged as the 40 xDrive; an all-electric version, the iX5 60 xDrive; a six-cylinder diesel model, the 40d xDrive; a plug-hybrid, the 50e xDrive; and a hydrogen fuel cell model, the iX5 Hydrogen.
The hydrogen and diesel models will not be coming to Canada, while the all-electric and PHEV are on hold as Canada’s counter tariffs make those two made-in-U.S. models non-profitable at the moment. However, the gasoline 40 xDrive just went on sale across the country, and we had the opportunity to drive it, and the iX5 60 xDrive, last weekend in Southern California.
