Description
YouTube’s new branded content policy is putting gun channels and firearm reviews in a very different position. If a creator reviews a firearm they personally own, that content can be treated one way—but if that same firearm is provided for coverage, YouTube’s branded content rules can change everything.
In this video, I explain why I have such a big problem with that distinction. This isn’t just about gun creators—it’s about whether viewers should be trusted to hear a clear disclosure, watch a firearm review, and decide for themselves whether the creator is being honest.
We’ll also look at the growing restrictions surrounding firearm content on YouTube, why these changes matter to independent creators, the outside pressure YouTube has faced over gun-related content, and why telling gun channels to simply leave YouTube misses the bigger issue.
My position is simple: be transparent, tell the audience the truth, and let adults decide who they trust.
