Description
The new Osight R is here, and I wanted to find out how it actually compares to an established rifle red dot like the Holosun AEMS Core X2.
In this video, I put both optics side by side and look at the differences that actually matter once you get behind them: sight picture, reticle clarity, window design, mounting options, battery life, brightness settings, parallax, build quality, zero retention and return-to-zero performance.
I also moved the Osight R across several very different platforms to see how consistent it stayed and whether removing and reinstalling the optic caused a noticeable point-of-impact shift.
Some of the biggest differences between these two don’t show up clearly on a spec sheet—including why two optics with virtually identical published window dimensions can feel surprisingly different when you actually use them.
This is a practical comparison based on my experience shooting and testing both optics, including where I preferred the Osight R and where I still thought the Holosun AEMS Core X2 had an advantage.
