The Segway Myshi is designed to combine the comfort of a Dutch-style cruiser with the versatility and stability of a short-tail cargo e-bike.
But can one bike really do both well?
In this review, we put the Segway Myshi through our full Electric Bike Report testing process to find out how it performs as a cruiser, commuter, utility bike, and short-tail cargo e-bike.
The Myshi features a 750W rear hub motor that peaks at 1,500W with up to 80Nm of torque, a 720Wh removable battery, a 418-lb total payload capacity, hydraulic disc brakes, 20x3” tires, a cadence sensor, and multiple Class 2, Class 3, and hybrid ride modes.
It also includes some unusually advanced technology for an e-bike, including regenerative braking, traction control, hill descent control, hill hold assist, GPS, Apple Find My, AirLock security, turn-by-turn navigation, motor locking, over-the-air updates, and an optional rear radar.
In our range testing, the Myshi delivered just under 38 miles in maximum assist and nearly 60 miles in Eco mode. It also performed extremely well on our hill test, climbing successfully on both throttle and pedal assist.
One of the standout features is the regenerative braking system. It can help slow the bike naturally on descents while sending some energy back to the battery, reducing wear on the mechanical brakes and adding a small amount of extra range.
Ride quality is another major strength. The swept-back Dutch-style handlebars, comfortable saddle, low center of gravity, and stiff frame make the Myshi feel stable, relaxed, and easy to ride—even though it can carry serious cargo.
There are a few compromises. The single-speed drivetrain leads to some ghost pedaling at higher speeds, Class 3 mode tops out at 23 mph instead of 28, and at roughly 84 lb with the battery, the bike is not especially light.
Overall, the Segway Myshi is one of the more comfortable and tech-forward utility e-bikes we’ve tested. It works well for neighborhood cruising, commuting, carrying groceries, hauling gear, or carrying a child when properly equipped.
Let us know in the comments: would you use the Myshi more as a cruiser, commuter, or cargo bike?
