The Most (and Least) Safe Form of Strength Training

“Resistance training is safe” and “all resistance training methods are equally safe” are not the same claim.

The comparison between sports and strength training is a false equivalence because people participate in sports because they enjoy that specific sport. Personal training clients typically care about the outcome from resistance training, not the specific method used to achieve it.

In other words, a soccer player can’t replace soccer with another activity and still be playing soccer. But a client can often replace one exercise or resistance training method with another and still achieve the same strength-training goals most clients have.
