Shooting Air Guns is “shooting sports” too!

Today’s National Shooting Sports Month video reminds us that Airguns are “guns” too… and features the Air Venturi Avenge-X .25cal Pre-Charged Pnuematic Airgun.

Over the weekend, my friend Tyler Patner finished second in The World at a PCP Airgun competition in Europe. Congrats to him… and Thanks to him for inspiring me to include some Airguns in this video series.

I grew up spending A Lot of time with a Daisy pump .177 rifle. I had a couple CO2 Cartridge handguns… but, I honestly switched to firearms pretty early in life. I picked up a few air guns here and there for kids to use, or as training replicas. It wasn’t until a couple of years ago that I really revisited airguns as serious shooting tools. At the Lucid Optics Ballistic Summit, I had the pleasure of meeting Ton Jones and learning a bit about the latest & greatest PCP Airguns from him. I committed to giving them a serious look and get some guidance from Tyler Patner about which rifle I should add to my collection. He had just released one that he designed, the very versatile and capable Avenge-X.

The next year at the Ballistic Summit, I had my one PCP and it was awesome to get to shoot with both of those Airgun gurus out at the NRA’s Whittington Center.

In this video, I also pulled out a classic hand-me-down Crosman CO2 gun from the 1960’s and some very modern Airgun replica’s. The latter can have some real training value in regard to learn a manual-of-arms and working with true beginners. At the end, I snuck in a clip of “please stop videoing me Dad!” Youngest Daughter taking one of her first shots with a PCP last summer.

Do you shoot “adult” airguns? Don’t still have a BB gun that you shot as a kid?
Let us know in the comments!

If you haven’t given PCPs a look, do so! Target shooting, fundamental marksmanship practice, competition… even hunting! There is a lot you can with them… Very Affordably.
