Today’s National Shooting Sports Month video features a classic pocket pistol: Beretta tip-up barrel .25, the “JetFire” 950 BS.
Beretta tip-up pustoks have been very popular in the past. They come in a variety of sizes, calibers and trigger configurations.
This is a little pistol that I actually
used to carry as a defensive tool… even though the .25acp round is notoriously anemic. At one point, Galco sold a wallet holster that allowed the gun to be fired without removing it… but, at one point in the 90’s the ATF decided that made the pistol an “any other weapon”, because it made the gun look like something other than a gun. Specifically: it made it look like an oddly shaped wallet with a big oval hole in the middle. 🤷🏻♂️
Regardless, this thing wasn’t a great carry choice, given the caliber, the almost complete lack of sights and its sketchy reliability. I tried to fix the reliability with a dremel one day… and, as you see in the video that didn’t help. My attention to reduce the feed angle removed a little too much of the bottom of the chamber and now cases tend to rupture… which steals the energy that is supposed to blow the empty case out of the gun. So, it’s broken…. But, it’s still a fun piece to have in my collection.
