This National Shooting Sports Month video features a prototype version of the pistol that I designed: The Avidity Arms PD8.
The PD8 is a chopped grip version of the PD10 Pistol. For those who don’t know, the PD10 is the result of a project that started around 2013 with the intention of bringing a unique design, 100% American Made, defensive handgun to the market. The pistol’s features are based on my thoughts, after 20+ years of teaching people at all skill levels, of what would make the best set of compromises for the vast majority of people who want to both carry and train with a handgun.
That said, for some people, concealing a full length grip doesn’t fit into their body shape or preferred dress style: Enter the PD8, with a shorter grip, but retaining the standard 4” barrel, giving a 6” sight radius and more weight out in from of the hand than most short gripped guns offer.
The idea to chop a grip of a full or mid-sized gun isn’t new… in fact, I first did it well over a decade ago to a Glock, to create the “Glock 26L”.
The pistol in the video is one of only two PD8s that have been made. At this time, we have no plans to bring them to market.
