Description
For young Singaporean Ava Kannan, keeping the little-known art form of Therukoothu alive is a deeply personal mission.
It's a centuries-old form of Tamil theatre that few in Singapore have seen, one that combines elaborate costumes with singing, dancing and acting.
Inspired by her late father's passion for Therukoothu, Ava and her mother are working to introduce it to a new generation.
But bringing it to the stage was no easy feat. Ava had to master singing, dancing and acting simultaneously to put on their first full-length Therukoothu production in Singapore.
Their efforts paid off with a sold-out show.
