On the morning of July 4th, 2025, a historic flash flood swept through Kerr County, Texas, leaving devastation in its path. Beloved summer camps, RV parks, and family cabins along the Guadalupe River were overtaken by violent waters. Among the hardest hit was Camp Mystic, an all-girls Christian summer camp, where tragedy struck and a community was forever altered.
From acclaimed filmmaker Shawn Welling, director of Alive: A True Story of Hope and The Messenger: 360 Days of Bolivar, comes a powerful new documentary chronicling the flood that stunned Texas and the nation. River of Angels reunites Welling with Michael Berry, nationally syndicated talk radio host and producer, who previously collaborated with Welling on the acclaimed Hurricane Ike documentary.
Together, they return with a shared mission: to ensure the story is told not by outsiders or distant media, but by the people of Kerr County themselves. Survivors. First responders. Parents. Local leaders. Their voices are the heartbeat of this film.
Filmed entirely on location in the aftermath of the disaster, River of Angels combines intimate, unscripted interviews, cinematic visuals, and a deep reverence for both the heartbreak and the heroism that emerged. It is more than a record of loss—it is a portrait of faith, community, and the enduring Texas spirit that refuses to be washed away.
