Descrição

Mere Prayer:
After reaching the roof, Mere saw his neighbors, entire families, parents, children, and grandparents, clinging to trees as the water surged around them. One by one, the trees snapped like toothpicks and vanished beneath the current. He stood there, helpless, watching as lives were swept away before his eyes.

Like many of the interviews in this documentary, his story is a reminder that there are countless lives beyond the camps we must remember and pray for. I never intended for faith to stand at the forefront of this film, but the people of Kerr County have made one thing clear. God is, and always has been, present in their lives.

This documentary is about healing, about moving forward, and about honoring the lives lost, as well as those who gave everything they had to save and help one another.

So tonight, and in the days to follow, maybe what Mere prayed is worth listening to. Instead of the next news story about the flood that focuses on what Kerr County should have done, what first responders could have done, or what camp owners might have done better, maybe this is a time to recognize that healing, love, compassion, and faith are worthy places for our minds to rest. A place to begin could be a simple prayer from someone like Mere.
