KOM OMBO Private Tour With Egyptologist: The Crocodile Temple (with Crocodile Mummies) (4K)

Descrizione

Kom Ombo Temple, located very close to the Nile River, was constructed during the Ptolemaic dynasty, 180–47 B.C., and some additions to it were made later during the Roman period. The temple is unique for two reasons: it's a double temple, divided symmetrically for two gods: Sobek (the crocodile god) and Horus (the falcon-headed god). Kom Ombo is also known as The Crocodile Temple, and the small museum here features several mummified crocodiles that are 2,000-2,300 years old. My guide Nour, who is an Egyptologist, explains the history of the temple, and the meaning of many of the hieroglyphics that we see all around the temple.
