Welcome to one of the most famous ancient Egyptian temples in the world: Karnak Temple! It's located in Luxor, once the ancient capital of Egypt, and was built mostly by KIng Amenohtep III, King Ramesses II, and King Thutmose III. Alexander the Great had a chapel here and King Tut was responsible for some of the construction as well. The temple is dedicated to the sun god Amun-Ra, his wife Mut, and their son Khonsu. I got a private sunrise tour (we got there before the crowds) of Karnak with my guide Nour who is an Egyptologist. He gave me one fantastic ancient Egyptian history lesson. The highlight for me was the largest Hall of Columns in the world. 134 columns rising over 100 feet, illuminated by the rising sun. There are so many well preserved hieroglyphics and reliefs here, with the colors still intact. Just beautiful!
