In Asia, they say your wife gets one ringtone, your mistress another, your children another, and your best friend another. Ralph Simon, the godfather of ringtones, says the habit never went away. In Chinese, ringtone is 铃声 (铃声, líng shēng): 铃 is a bell, 声 is sound. 门铃 (mén líng) is doorbell. 手机铃声 (shǒu jī líng shēng) is mobile ringtone. One caller, one ringtone.
