India's first hydrogen-powered passenger train is operating six days a week on the Jind–Sonipat corridor, remaining off service on Fridays. The 10-coach, 1,200-kilowatt Hydrogen Fuel Cell-based DEMU is covering the 89-km route in about two hours each way while stopping at 12 stations. Train No. 74010 is departing Jind at 7:40 am and arriving in Sonipat at 9:40 am, while Train No. 74009 is leaving Sonipat at 10:40 am and reaching Jind at 1:00 pm. Powered by hydrogen fuel cells, the train is producing only water vapour, offering a zero-emission and environmentally friendly mode of rail transport.
