India and Japan have agreed to begin operations of the Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail (MAHSR) project using Indian high-speed trains, as the Japanese E10 Series Shinkansen is still under development and is expected to be supplied in the early 2030s. According to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), discussions between the two countries on the project are progressing well. With construction advancing rapidly, the first section of the bullet train corridor is expected to open in 2027. Both sides agreed that starting operations with Indian trains aligns with their shared objective of launching the high-speed rail project at the earliest.
