How long can one cannabis plant actually live if you keep flipping it between vegetative growth and flower year after year? Nobody I know has publicly tested this to its limit — so I'm doing it. Welcome to the MediMac Grow Challenge, a new series documenting how long I can keep a single plant going.
In this video I show the MediMac on Day 2 of her reveg under 24-hour light, prune the tops back for an even canopy during the vegetative return, and lay out the research plan. The idea is simple: veg her through fall and winter, take clones, flip her back to flower next summer, veg her again next fall, and keep going. 1 year, 5 years, 10 years — we'll find out together. I'll also be cutting the root ball back as part of the long-term plant management.
This is also a space where I'm honoring the memory of my late friend Mike. Working on this plant in this room brings him back into the grow with me — his peppers are growing year-round next to the MediMac in the same transition space.
