Description
How do you ask a property owner for permission to metal detect, and what should written permission include? In Mental Metal Academy Lesson 16, Scott walks through the complete permission process for private property, from researching the correct owner and making the first request to defining the search area, dates, guests, recovery method, privacy, and handling of finds.
The lesson includes a sample spoken request and a walkthrough of an editable permission-request letter available as a supporting-member bonus. You will also learn how to respond to owner concerns, accept no without pressure, check in on the day of the hunt, respect property boundaries, and close the loop after the search.
Property ownership, artifact rules, find ownership, and detecting laws vary by location. Confirm the person authorized to grant access and follow all state, local, federal, and site-specific requirements. The sample letter records expectations but is not legal advice or a universal liability waiver.
