Review of the well made Chinese "Alashan" slingshot used in competitions, and which blends aesthetics with good ergonomics.
This slingshot appears to be out of production (2023)
Beautifully made of polished 304 stainless steel, it has a fork width of 6.5 cm (2.55 inches) , which is fairly wide compared to the usual 4 to 5 cm fork widths of most Chinese slingshots. The "Alashan" is a wrap & tuck flat band slingshot that comes with clear fiber optic sights, an interesting lanyard, and a set of flat bands. I opted to attach a light set of flat bands with a small pouch to shoot 7 mm steel ammo at 10 meters: in the right hands, this slingshot can be extremely accurate.
Purchased at Aliexpress for under USD 20, this is truly excellent value for money, and a slingshot I would recommend to anyone seeking a solidly made slingshot without superfluous gizmos.
