Description

On February 18th, 2026 The Sanctuary for Independent Media held a hybrid workshop with curator Charles Clark III of the Adirondack Experience: The Museum on Blue Mountain Lake. Clark visited the Sanctuary to present on the museum's exhibition "The Black Experience in the Adirondacks," which opens in 2027. Clark was visiting the region to share the project and accept contributions of personal artifacts and objects from the public to become part of the collection and displayed in the permanent exhibition. The discussion was held in advance of the February 28th event, "Frederick Douglass and the Power of the Black Archive," a community reading of Douglass' text in which he asks "What to the Salve is the Fourth of July."
