BYD’s all-electric Yangwang U9X has reached 503.17km/h on a closed section of Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed International Road in Abu Dhabi’s Al Dhafra region, The record-setting run took place on November 1, with German racing driver Marc Basseng behind the wheel.
It is the first production car to pass 500km/h, surpassing the model’s previous 496.22km/h record, The Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) has recognised the achievement.
The U9 Xtreme also earned two Guinness World Records for the fastest single-direction run by a production car and an electric production car.
