An IBM Scientist Wrote a Song About Rising 8 Times. Here Is the Story | 8 Times 八次 💡

Guru Banavar leads AI at IBM. He also writes music. His album is called Rise Eight Times, named after a Japanese proverb: fall seven times, rise eight times. A friend photographed the wreckage after the 2011 tsunami and returned two years later to find the same place entirely rebuilt. That image became a song. In Chinese, 八次 (八次, bā cì): 八 is eight, 次 is times. Eight is also the luckiest number in Chinese culture because in Cantonese it sounds like a fortune falling from the sky.
