1️⃣ Blaming Genetics
This is the number 1 excuse I hear.
Genetics affect shape — not your ability to grow muscle. Most “bad genetics” are really bad execution, low frequency, and zero patience. People expect a calf to grow like quads, thats not how it works.
2️⃣ Not Making Calves a Top Priority
If calves are slapped onto the end of leg day when you’re already exhausted, they’ll never grow. Calves must be trained fresh, focused, and with intent.
3️⃣ Not Enough Volume & Frequency
Calves recover fast and need more work.
Training them once a week won’t cut it.
Real growth requires hard training 4–6 days per week.(Lee Haney, Arnold and Sampson all followed this frequency)
Even legends like Arnold and Lee Haney trained calves daily when bringing them up.
4️⃣ Not Eating Enough to Grow
No calories. No protein. No growth.
If you’re under-eating, your calves don’t stand a chance no matter how hard you train.
5️⃣ Skipping Seated Calves
Seated calves train the soleus, which makes up a huge portion of total calf size. If you look at my calves you will see wings , this is seated calves
They build thickness, density, and lower-calf fullness, while supporting ankle strength, knee health, and endurance.
