Woke up at 5am to see the Colosseum at sunrise and it was ABSOLUTELY worth the early wake up. 20,000-25,000 people visit the Colosseum everyday (particularly as it’s now approaching high season in Rome) but if you wanted to take some pictures outside of the historical site (without the crowds) then waking up to arrive just before sunrise is the way to go!
I arrived at around 6:30am and I HIGHLY recommend walking over to Piazza del Campidoglio (the Capitoline Hill) between the Roman Forum and Campus Martius for a viewpoint over the forum too! I’ll share those views in the next vlog after this!
