Description

The Talk
At the dawn of Independence, members of the Constituent Assembly and the newly formed government debated the metaphors for a new nation—the national flag, anthem, emblem, motto, and Preamble. But how did we get from idea to symbol?

#TMKrishna set out on a journey of discovery to understand the processes that led to the representations that shape the abstraction that is India. Through meticulous research and persistent questioning, he explores the historical, cultural, and philosophical contexts of each symbol, revealing how they evolved to become powerful metaphors for a nation’s aspirations, struggles, and dreams for the future. An eloquent meditation on constitutionalism, the book is also, ultimately, a citizenly response to a nation in crisis.
