Good morning, folks. In this episode we continue our journey toward Overland Expo as we cross the Nevada desert and battle extreme summer heat on the way to Arizona. What started as a simple travel day quickly turned into a lesson in keeping both the van and ourselves cool in brutal temperatures pushing past 100 degrees.
Along the way we share a quiet desert camp, cook breakfast on the road, deal with changing plans involving a Sprinter van pickup, and talk through some of the ways I manage engine temperatures, airflow, solar power, and cooling inside the van during summer travel. Ben and Apollo enjoy some time outside exploring while we slowly work our way toward cooler weather near Flagstaff.
These are the kinds of days that remind me why I enjoy this lifestyle so much. Even when plans change and the heat gets exhausting, there is still something special about finding a peaceful place to camp at the end of the day.
