Description
After traveling south to Denver the previous day, Union Pacific "Big Boy" #4014 returned to Cheyenne Wyoming on Wednesday October 1st.
For this trip, the locomotive had a set of smoke deflectors (or wind wings as Union Pacific called them) installed. While a well known feature on 4-8-4 #844, only 1 Big Boy locomotive had them in regular service: #4019 for a very short time as part of a test.
After a service stop at Eaton Colorado, #4014 accelerates back to speed on the north side of town in the first clip. Then we see the locomotive nearing the top of the grade at Speer Wyoming, a short distance from the steam shop in Cheyenne.
