Description
It's late May and snow is again falling in the Front Range of the Colorado Rockies. 2-8-0 #111 is the power today on the Georgetown Loop Railroad, pulling trains from Georgetown up to Silver Plume over this famous and scenic route. With 640 feet to climb in a straight-line distance of 2 miles the railroad loops around and over itself to lessen the grade, while lengthening the distance to 4.5 rail miles. This marvel of 19th century engineering is now a popular tourist attraction less than an hour west of Denver.
