Description
This 'Open House: Home Course' special, presented with the US Open on NBC, invites viewers to join them on a journey across the United States to explore homes inspired by golf, from historic public spaces to modern residences that built directly on actual courses.
The trip begins with guest host George Oliphant at the Francis A. Byrne Golf Course in West Orange, New Jersey. Designed by Seth Raynor and Charles Banks, the course is known for its rolling terrain, deep bunkers, and broad greens that sit within a landscape of mature trees and shifting elevation. Situated less than an hour from New York City, this destination serves as a public course where local players (and even George and his family) return for a couple of rounds.
From there, we travel to Los Angeles, where Tisha Alyn, founder and CEO of ALYN Golf, invites us into her vibrant home. Her space embraces an elevated desert aesthetic defined by warm neutral tones, natural light, and an open floor plan that keeps the kitchen, seating areas, and work spaces visually connected. And considering golf is her life's passion, there is a tee area for a practice in her backyard that functions as a place where stunning design and love of the game intersect seamlessly.
The next stop is a Palm Springs residence designed by interior designer Christopher Kennedy. The property overlooks a golf course framed by desert landscape and clear views toward the San Jacinto Mountains. Inside, textured materials, curved seating, and mid century references echo the era of the architecture, and a direct view toward the 15th tee connects the gorgeous interior spaces.
Next stop on our tour? Jupiter, Florida, where Bachelor Nation's Tyler Cameron revisits his childhood home that he renovated with a focus on outdoor living. The property includes a putting green designed by PGA champion Justin Thomas that captures the region’s close connection to the sport. Moreover, open air gathering spaces, poolside lounge areas, and shaded seating help create an environment that is ideal for entertaining and beautifully makes the most of Florida's ample sunlight and fresh coastal air.
The final stop of this episode is the Rose Estate in Detroit, located on the grounds of the Detroit Golf Club. Once home to the legendary Aretha Franklin, the residence has been thoughtfully restored to honor its architectural heritage. The great hall features tall ceilings and well-preserved original detailing that emphasize its scale and extraordinary craftsmanship. From the terrace, views extend directly onto the golf course, where fairways and trees provide a unique perspective each morning.
Altogether, these breathtaking properties — from public course architecture in New Jersey to historic estates in Detroit — wonderfully showcase how a fondness for golf can inspire design and daily living in your very own home.
