A few things surprised me.
1. The size of it! I don’t know how I managed to spot it.
2. I was advised to go to the doctor, but tbf I couldn’t get it out myself with my own tick remover (slightly too big) & the pharmacist suggested better to be safe than sorry and due to the size get it out fully and properly.
3. I was seen so quickly by a GP😂 I was in a small town in Kerry so I was just lucky it wasn’t busy on that day.
From previous experience with tick bits I have usually just removed them and washed the area and kept an eye on it. Which is the general guidelines here but on this occasion I took advice given to me on the day and in that area.
* however i did bot go back for a blood test in 3-4 weeks as i felt fine.
