The JackRabbit MG Cargo is one of the most unexpected electric cargo haulers we’ve tested.
It weighs just 56 lbs, folds flat for easier storage, and still claims a massive 500 lb payload capacity. That sounds almost too good to be true, so we put it through Electric Bike Report’s full real-world testing process to see how practical this compact throttle-powered machine really is.
The MG Cargo features a 749W cargo-geared rear hub motor, dual removable batteries with 720Wh of total capacity, 24x3” front and 20x3” rear tires, a flat-folding frame, bamboo cargo deck, dual LED headlights, integrated taillight, center stand, color display, and a large accessory ecosystem for cargo, passengers, comfort, and customization.
In this review, we cover:
⚡ Throttle speed testing
🔋 Real-world range testing
⛰ Hill climbing on Devil’s Backbone
🛑 Brake testing from 20 MPH
🚲 Ride quality and handling
📦 Cargo hauling and payload capability
🔧 Folding design, portability, and customization options
The MG Cargo is not a traditional e-bike since it does not have functional pedals. Instead, it rides more like a compact throttle-powered micromobility vehicle. But despite its small size, it proved surprisingly capable, fun, and practical.
In our testing, it delivered solid range, better-than-expected hill climbing, smooth throttle response, and a ride feel that made it one of the most entertaining products we’ve tested this year.
It is not perfect. The center stand could be more stable when loading cargo, and the brakes require firm hand pressure during harder stops. But overall, the JackRabbit MG Cargo is compact, capable, customizable, and genuinely fun to ride.
Watch the full review to see whether this tiny electric cargo hauler is the right fit for errands, apartment living, cargo runs, and everyday fun.
