Studying relative modes is one of the most beneficial things that a guitarist can do. It allows for the ear to practice targeting into different starting positions of the exact same parent scale (like the “C” Lydian root of a “G” Major scale).
Playing into relative scale modes is considered as one of the top tier “crucial” skills for guitarists because it helps a player target two important playing abilities.
The first is how it unlocks the entire fret-board, revealing how to solo across changing chords. Secondly it works to instantly expand your melodic vocabulary through ear training.
This lesson will use the parent Major scale of “G” Major then lead into targeting “C” with the Lydian sound.
