The Cost of Fitness

Description

For a long time, I thought easy training was a waste of time.

Two hours easy on the bike? Too long to be recovery and too short to be productive. I wanted every workout to feel like it was moving the needle.

The problem is, I spent years trying to reinvent the wheel.

In this video I talk about what I got wrong, what I’ve learned from working with Mikal again, and why so many of the best athletes in the world are able to carry massive training loads week after week.

The answer isn’t 30 hours of hard workouts. A lot of it is really easy training.

Swimming and biking allow you to build a massive amount of aerobic fitness with much less risk than running. Looking back, I had it completely backwards. I was trying to force fitness through intensity instead of building the foundation that allowed me to actually absorb the hard work.

These videos are becoming a bit like letters to my younger self.

Stop trying to reinvent the wheel.
