With a few woodworking tricks, it’s possible to get the most out of this square‑chisel mortising kit for a drill press. When using a mortising attachment for a drill press, we can build a sliding base that supports the parts responsible for holding the wood in which we’ll cut the mortises for the mortise‑and‑tenon joints. Thanks to this base, I can drill mortises with the square bit in almost any position.

In this woodworking video, I also show how to properly adjust the bit inside the hollow square chisel. One of the issues I encountered was that the piece that holds the bi, located below the chuck, didn’t fit well on my drill press, even with the four adjustment rings included in the kit for different sizes. The solution turned out to be simple: a strip of plastic cut from a bottle provided a perfect fit.
