A stretchy wrap is one of the softest, most newborn-friendly ways to carry your baby. In this video I show you how to tell a stretchy wrap apart from a woven one, how to tie it, and a neat trick for storing it that doubles as a quick way to undo it again.

After watching, you'll know what makes a stretchy wrap different from a woven one, roughly how long it's suitable for, and how to do the carry from pre-tying through to getting baby out.
✅ Safety check, every time:
- Close enough to kiss (baby high on your chest)
- Chin off the chest, room to breathe
- Face always in view
- Knees higher than the bum, back supported
A couple of things I mention in the video that are worth knowing before you buy: most stretchy wraps come in one standard size, around 5m, though some brands offer sized wraps. And while a regular stretchy wrap isn't suitable for back carries, there are a few sturdier hybrid stretchy options that brands say can be. Always check with the specific brand.
