A woman in Hamilton, Ontario was caught on camera changing her baby's diaper on a sidewalk at a busy intersection, then throwing the dirty diaper into the trees.
Here's the part that makes it worse: there was a garbage can about three metres away. Three steps. That's all it would have taken.
Instead of taking a few seconds to do the right thing, she left a dirty diaper in the trees, where someone else has to deal with it and where it will sit and pollute the environment. It's disrespectful to everyone who uses that space, and it's exactly the kind of behaviour that makes our communities dirtier and harder to enjoy.
This is about basic decency, respect for the environment, and taking responsibility for your own mess, especially when the solution is right in front of you.
At some point, we have to bring back the idea that cleaning up after ourselves is the bare minimum, not a favour.
