Prime Minister Narendra Modi has flagged off two new rail services for Gujarat: the Ahmedabad (Sabarmati)–Varanasi Express and the Mehsana–Becharaji–Sabarmati MEMU trains.
The Ahmedabad–Varanasi Express will improve long-distance connectivity, while the new MEMU service will make daily travel more convenient and budget-friendly.
Two pairs of daily MEMU trains have been introduced between Sabarmati and Mehsana via Becharaji. Regular operations will commence from 1 November 2026.
This facility will benefit daily passengers, students, employees, farmers and small traders by offering affordable and comfortable journeys. Devotees visiting the famous Shri Bahuchar Mata Temple will also find travel significantly easier.
The new services are expected to boost regional connectivity and support economic and religious travel across the route.
