Targeting chord tones connects your solos directly to the underlying harmony rather than just playing a generic scale.
By consciously emphasizing triad tones, (the; root, third, and fifth of the current chord), your phrases begin to sound highly deliberate as well as, more musical.
This technique is a crucial differentiator that creates the divide between beginner and intermediate lead playing.
This lesson will focus on emphasizing chord tones to clarify the harmony for the listener.
We will explore how to deliberately play into the best notes from one chord tone to the next (voice leading). The lessons goal is to give your solos a strong sense of direction and resolution.
