Largset Number of Immigrants in Spain by Country from 1950 - 2026

Stats Media Video 1 months ago

Description

From 1950 to the 1970s, Spain was a country people mostly left, as poverty, dictatorship, and limited jobs pushed many Spaniards to seek better lives in Europe and Latin America. But as Spain’s economy modernized, democracy returned after 1975, and prosperity grew, the country slowly transformed into a destination for newcomers. By the 1990s and 2000s, immigrants from Morocco, Romania, Ecuador, Colombia, and many other nations arrived seeking work, safety, and opportunity, helping build Spain’s farms, cities, and industries. By 2026, Spain had become one of Europe’s major immigration countries, shaped by decades of cultural exchange, economic change, and people searching for a better future.
