I Stopped Buying Bean Sprouts—because they are the easiest thing you can grow at home.
All you need is a planter that drains.
Soak the soybeans in clean water overnight (12-16 hours) until they are rehydrated.
The hole in this planter is pretty big so I placed a paper at the bottom, you can use a cheesecloth if you want. Then, dump in all the rehydrated soybeans and cover them with another damp paper towel. This helps to preserve the moisture so they don’t dry out easily. The most important thing is to block the light — you can cover it with a lid, a ceramic plate, or even a black cloth.
Keep this set up at a warm place because bean sprouts grow the best between 21–27°C (70–80°F). Put a plate at the bottom so you don’t mess up the countertop. Now you just wait for 5-7 days and water them twice a day. Once in the morning, and once at night. The plate will collect some water. No need to pour it off until the next time you water the beans.
Day one - Tiny sprouts peeking out!
Day two - They doubled in length - looking good.
Day three - They are filling more than half of the planter.
Day four - Look at them stretch! They are good to eat now but I want to give them an extra day. They are pushing up against the lid so I am switching to a big bowl tp allow they continue to grow.
Day five - Ready to cook and eat. That’s it! Fresh soybean sprouts in just 5 days!
