I Opened My "60Ah" Power Bank... I Couldn't Believe What Was Inside!

Description

I bought this 60,000mAh power bank around two years ago and I've used it almost every day since.

There was just one small problem...

When I eventually opened it, I discovered that my supposedly 60Ah power bank only had three 10Ah cells fitted inside — 30Ah in total.

Even better, the case was clearly designed to hold six cells. 😂

So rather than throw it away, I decided to rebuild it properly.

In this video I strip the power bank down, remove the original cells and install six 10Ah lithium cells in parallel to create the full 60Ah battery pack it should have had from the beginning.

I also show the spot welding, insulation and reassembly, then put the rebuilt power bank back into everyday use.

This isn't a laboratory capacity test and I'm not claiming a measured 60Ah usable output at the USB ports. The battery pack is now physically configured as 6 × 10Ah cells in parallel, with the real usable capacity affected by the power bank's low-voltage cutoff and conversion losses.

The result has genuinely exceeded my expectations. I've been using the rebuilt power bank every day and the difference compared with the original three-cell configuration is enormous.

Sometimes the best upgrade isn't buying something new.

Sometimes it's opening the thing you've already got and discovering what the manufacturer forgot to put inside. 😂

Please remember: lithium batteries can deliver extremely high currents and can cause fire or serious injury if damaged, short-circuited or assembled incorrectly. This video documents my own work and experience — make sure you understand the risks before working with lithium cells.

Thanks for watching!
