Description
A half buckle carrier sits between a full buckle and a meh dai: a buckle waistbelt with shoulder straps you tie rather than clip. In this video I show you how it adjusts, how to put it on for a front carry, and why it's such a good option when two caregivers of different sizes share the same carrier.
🎓 This video is part of my free course, Your Babywearing Basics. It walks you through every carrier type so you can understand your options properly → https://www.babywearingtraining.com/courses/your-babywearing-basics/
After watching, you'll understand how the tied straps give you a more personalised fit than a full buckle, what to check for a good carry, and how this carrier type adapts across different body shapes.
✅ Safety check, every time:
- Close enough to kiss (baby high on your chest)
- Chin off the chest, room to breathe
- Face always in view
- Knees higher than the bum, back supported
One detail from the video worth knowing: some half buckles have a headrest you can fold up to support a sleeping baby's head. Only ever put up one side at a time, and always keep their face visible and their airway clear, even when they're asleep.
Not every half buckle is suitable from birth. Some are sized for bigger babies and toddlers, so check the size range before you buy.
