Description
The full buckle carrier is the backpack-style carrier most people picture when they think "baby carrier". Buckling it up is the easy part. Getting a genuinely good fit takes a bit more attention, and that's what this video is about.
🎓 This video is part of my free course, Your Babywearing Basics. It walks you through every carrier type so you can understand your options properly → https://www.babywearingtraining.com/courses/your-babywearing-basics/
After watching, you'll know what to check for a good fit, the difference between H-style and crossed straps, and what an adjustable carrier looks like.
✅ Safety check, every time:
- Close enough to kiss (baby high on your chest)
- Chin off the chest, room to breathe
- Face always in view
- Knees higher than the bum, back supported
One fit tip from the video that's easy to miss: if the chest strap buckle is sitting up at your neck, it's not positioned correctly. It should sit lower on your back, to avoid uncomfortable pressure points. Many carriers let you reposition this. And don't position the waistbelt on your hips if you don't want to carry your baby low on your body.
Not every full buckle carrier is suitable from birth. Some are sized specifically for toddlers and bigger babies, so always check the size range before buying, and try a few models if you can. Comfort and fit vary a surprising amount between brands.
