Surrounded by members of the media and well-wishers, British adventurer Karl Bushby stood with his mother, Angela, outside her home in the city of Hull, after Karl completed the final portion of his journey in northeastern England on November 2, 2026, following a 50,000-kilometre (31,000-mile), 28-year trek home from South America.
The 57-year-old former paratrooper set off from Punta Arenas, Chile, in November 1998, vowing to reach his mother's home near Hull without travelling on standard modes of transport.
Bushby returns to his 36-year-old son Adam and a 12-year-old granddaughter he has never met.
