Best—Selling MOTORCYCLE Brands 1960 - 2026

Descrizione

From the 1960s to 2026, the story of motorcycle sales has largely been dominated by Honda, which became the world’s top-selling motorcycle brand in the late 1950s and has remained the global leader for decades through affordable, reliable bikes such as the Super Cub, commuter motorcycles, and scooters sold across Asia, Latin America, and Africa. In the 1970s–1990s, the Japanese “Big Four” — Honda, Yamaha, Suzuki, and Kawasaki — dominated global markets, with Yamaha and Suzuki growing strongly through sport bikes and affordable commuters. By the 2000s and 2010s, Indian manufacturers such as Hero MotoCorp and TVS Motor Company expanded rapidly thanks to huge demand for low-cost transportation in India and export markets. By 2026, Honda still leads global motorcycle sales by a very large margin, while Hero, TVS, and Yamaha compete closely behind it, showing how the center of motorcycle growth has shifted toward Asia’s mass-market commuter and scooter segments rather than premium motorcycles
