ActBlue CEO Regina Wallace-Jones pleaded the Fifth 22 times before Congress — refusing to answer questions about foreign donations, donation fraud, and even her own name. The Democrat Party's largest fundraising platform, which processes millions of credit card donations and has raised $19 billion since 2004, is now at the center of a congressional investigation into illegal foreign contributions and campaign finance violations.
The New York Times reported that ActBlue's own outside legal counsel — including former Biden White House counsel Dana Remus at Covington & Burling — warned Wallace-Jones she may have misled Congress in her 2023 letter claiming the platform screened out all foreign donations. Instead of correcting the record, she submitted it anyway. By March 2025, ActBlue's entire legal and compliance team had resigned, been fired, or gone on leave. An internal memo even stated the platform would accept donations from donors using fake names.
