In Absolute Green Arrow #1, DC reimagines Oliver Queen — or at least the man behind the hood — as a methodical, brutal killer who hunts his targets with the same dread-soaked patience as a horror movie villain. The issue's opening attack on a target named Hammond sets the entire tone of the series and confirms what early teases suggested: this Green Arrow doesn't play by superhero rules.
But the identity question is where it gets really interesting. Is this Oliver Queen brought back through a hidden Lazarus Pit? Is it Roy Harper, the apprentice taking the mantle? Is there a deeper Court of Owls connection through Dinah Drake — Black Canary's mother — like we saw with Martha Wayne in Absolute Batman?
