Words We Say

Everything will be okay.
Those are words that people say.
But, the future, they can't know.
Maybe there'll be no more snow.
Everything will be okay.
Those are words that people say.

Everything will be okay.
Those are words that people say.
But life is problematical,
even when our cups are full.

I'm sure that we know deep down,
even though today we're happy
in this town,
things are gonna happen
that will make us frown.
Things are gonna happen
that may make some drown.

Even if you're riding
in a horse-drawn sleigh,
thinking that today,
everything is okay,
things are not okay
for the horse being oppressed.
They deserve freedom,
time to rest.

What does it even mean
to be "okay"?
Have we really been "okay"
even on our best day?
Even at a party,
fancily dressed,
how can we be okay
while beings are oppressed?

Maybe fireworks
make your spirits rise high,
but those same fireworks
make other people cry.
They sound like bombs,
which make people dead.
Fireworks make some
tremble under a bed.

Everything will be okay.
Those are words that people say.
But even the sun,
as big as it is,
will one day die
and lose its fizz.

Having said that,
we can do a whole lot,
to make things more okay
than we were taught.
When we come together,
we can do amazing things.
Society can be the wind
under all our wings.

We can make things
more okay than now,
for all insects,
fishes, birds and cows.
Liberation -
we need that for all
creatures large in size,
medium, and small.
We can do far more
than just say
everything will be okay.
We can share things,
to help needs get met.
We are all one,
let's never forget.
